Word of Mouth Bay Area Presents
Face Books: Social Networking in Real Time

– a reading series mini-tour event featuring award-winning, best-selling and new authors of forthcoming books from around the bay area. Next stop? Your local store.

Who Are We? Word of Mouth Bay Area is a group of published women writers. Novelists, poets, playwrights, non-fiction writers and memoirists, we are also columnists, bloggers, journalists. We’ve been “picked” by Booksense, Barnes and Noble, The New York Times and The San Francisco Chronicle. We’ve been translated into at least twenty-five languages.

As local and national best-sellers, award-winners, leaders of literary organizations, producers of radio shows, literary laureates and founders of rock bands, we have generated long reader/fan lists on Red Room, Facebook, MySpace and of course, through our own sites and events.

What is the mini-tour? Groups of 4-6 WOMBA authors with current releases will read together in venues from Sacramento to Santa Cruz. We will do a spring tour and a fall tour in 2009. Uniting the separate pieces from our books, a loose and amusing narrative arc structures our lively reading event.

Who’s Reading? Michelle Richmond, Meg Waite Clayton, Jessica Barksdale Inclan, Jill Wolfson, Catherine Brady and more . . .

Each group will represent a wonderful variety of authors drawn from this list. No event will be repeated. Have a favorite or a special request? Let us know!

How you can set up an event in your store or venue? Ready to hear the pitter-patter of intellectual conversation? The clink-clink of a register hard at work? Please contact Elizabeth Stark for more information or to schedule an event (or more than one!) at your store, school or venue.
